The aim I found most prevalent would have to be the aim of success. I found success most prevalent because most of the hip hop music that I listen to deals with this concept. I believe that this aim was more prevalent because everyone can relate to this aim. Success is something that everyone wants to achieve. As a college student, everyone can relate to this. College students are in college to get a degree so that they can make money and be successful. Success is what children are taught to be as well. They are taught to go to school so that they can be like their parents when they become older. I made a few observations dealing with these two aims. It was easier to discuss success than liberation because no one discusses being liberated from anything. Success is a universal concept to mankind, going from one part of life to another. Liberation was a little challenging because I could think of movies but it was a little challenging to think of songs. Liberation to me is discussed more in movies and I think that it is easier to discuss this concept in movies. Movies can further go into depth with this concept and it is better explained as well. The Hindu understanding of the concept worldly success is similar to the pop culture’s understanding of success. Pop culture’s understanding is about money, cars, and clothes. The Hindu understanding is of wealth, fame and power. I believe that the understandings of both of these are similar because, to me, I think that there is no other definition or explanation for success. Success to me is all about power and money. The Hindu understanding of Liberation is similar but a little different than pop culture. Liberation in the Hindu understanding means being liberated from slavery or from a crucial event. Liberation in the pop culture is a little different because liberation can mean free from parents or free from college. It does not necessarily mean free from something major it can be something minor. I enjoyed thinking about these two aims the most and overall these four aims are great ways to live life.
