The aim I found most prevalent would have to be the aim of success. I found success most prevalent because most of the hip hop music that I listen to deals with this concept. I believe that this aim was more prevalent because everyone can relate to this aim. Success is something that everyone wants to achieve. As a college student, everyone can relate to this. College students are in college to get a degree so that they can make money and be successful. Success is what children are taught to be as well. They are taught to go to school so that they can be like their parents when they become older. I made a few observations dealing with these two aims. It was easier to discuss success than liberation because no one discusses being liberated from anything. Success is a universal concept to mankind, going from one part of life to another. Liberation was a little challenging because I could think of movies but it was a little challenging to think of songs. Liberation to me is discussed more in movies and I think that it is easier to discuss this concept in movies. Movies can further go into depth with this concept and it is better explained as well. The Hindu understanding of the concept worldly success is similar to the pop culture’s understanding of success. Pop culture’s understanding is about money, cars, and clothes. The Hindu understanding is of wealth, fame and power. I believe that the understandings of both of these are similar because, to me, I think that there is no other definition or explanation for success. Success to me is all about power and money. The Hindu understanding of Liberation is similar but a little different than pop culture. Liberation in the Hindu understanding means being liberated from slavery or from a crucial event. Liberation in the pop culture is a little different because liberation can mean free from parents or free from college. It does not necessarily mean free from something major it can be something minor. I enjoyed thinking about these two aims the most and overall these four aims are great ways to live life.

The aim that I found more prevalent was pleasure. I say this because when people think of pleasure there are so many different ways to define pleasure. It can be mentally, physically, emotionally, etc. Pleasure was the aim that I found to be the easiest as well. The aim community service took some thinking. Pleasure is something that people feel on a regular basis whether it is smoking, eating, drinking, having fun, or just relaxing. Anything can be pleasurable depending on the person. While doing the aim pleasure, I found that I had five songs in about three minutes. It did not take long at all to come up with songs. I think that it took longer for me to decide what songs to pick with the aim community service. It seems to me that no one thinks of songs that pertain to community service very often. This generation is about sex and just living life in general. This made me think about what I listen to on a daily basis. Every song I listen to is about pleasure most of the time or about having fun. I think that from this day forth I plan on listening to different types of songs and genres. I am so set on one or two genres that I do not go outside of my box. The aims according to the Hindu understanding are different than the understanding of American pop culture. According to the Hindu understanding, the aim pleasure deals with following the laws of morality and to seek pleasure intelligently. In American pop culture, people seek pleasure in all the wrong ways. Some seek pleasure wit drugs, alcohol, sex, and so many other ways. In American pop culture, people go with the flow instead of actually thinking before acting. With the aim community service the thought process for Hindu understanding and American pop culture is the same. They both focus on helping others and putting yourself last. I really enjoyed these aims and they both have taught me a lot about myself as well. I plan on thinking and doing things outside the box.
